GET UP

1. To get up is to wake up and get out of bed.

Examples of use:

  • It's 8 o'clock: time to get up.
  • I want to get up early tomorrow.
  • We had a day off work yesterday so we got up very late.
  • He's been getting up at 5am every day for years.
  • She gets up early and goes for a run every morning.
  • I get up at 7.30 every day.

2. To get up is also to stand up.

Examples of use:

  • Get up off the floor. Your clothes will get dirty.
  • He fell over when he was playing football, but quickly got up again.
